I'd like to thank Dair Grant & Purple Shark Software. His Extension Shell is excellent.
Requirements
The only requirement is System 7.x or greater.
Installation
Put Keystroke Recorder into the "Extensions" folder in your System Folder. Then Restart.
Current Features
Keystroke Recorder with Beep
Keystroke Recorder with Beep records each keystroke into a file for later retrieval. The file is called "KSR Log" and is located in preferences folder in the System Folder. This version beeps everytime it saves data to the file. KSR saves every fifty keystrokes. The log file is appended after each restart.
Keystroke Recorder (Registered User Extra)
Keystroke Recorder works exactly the same as Keystroke Recorder with Beep, but without the beeping.
Stealth Keystroke Recorder (Registered User Extra)
This works the same as Keystroke Recorder but it creates an invisible log files in preferences folder in the System Folder which it encrypts. KSR appears to be a standard Apple extension, blending in perfectly. The files it creates are named after the current date and time in seconds (for instance, my log for today is named "-1335086027"); the higher the number, the newer the file. A new log file is created after each restart.
Less Stealth Keystroke Recorder (Registered User Extra)
This works the same as the Stealth Keystroke Recorder but it creates visible file logs.
KSR Decoder (Registered User Extra)
This is used to decrypt the log files recorded by the Stealth Keystroke Recorder. You can save the decoded file too.
Future Feature
Separate the log file by application.
History
1999/11/12 - 2.0.1
Updated KSR Decoder. It now uses Geneva for it's font. It was using the system font which was not very easy to read. Also, it is now much easier to save your converted log over the coded log.
1999/08/22 - 2.0
The Keystroke Recorder coverter is replaced by the KSR Decoder. The new decoder is a RealBASIC app. The actual Keystroke Recorders were not changed, although the version numbers have been updated to 2.0.
98/10/24 - 1.9
The Keystroke Recorder Converter would cause a Stack Overflow if the log file was big. The converter can now translate much larger files. If a file that contains zero characters to convert, an End of File Error will be generated.
98/02/17 - 1.8a
A new version was created called Less Stealth. It is the same as the Stealth version but it creates visible log files.
97/11/08 - 1.8
Log files are now stored in the preferences folder.
97/10/16 - 1.7
Prepared for distribution.
97/04/14 - 1.0 thru 1.6
Internal and limited beta testing.
Keystroke Recorder is written in C, using MetroWerks CodeWarrior.
